Short-Term Running Goals:

Hoping to re-qualify for Boston sometime in 2011.  Hoping to hit marathon #10 in 2011.

Personal:

Married.  2 daughters.  Have a love/hate relationship with running.  Hate the first 3 miles of EVERY run without fail and grumble the whole time.  Feel okay during 3-6.  Love 6+ and LOVE how I feel when I am done (like I can take on the world and then some!).

AP 9:00.  Last mile: 8:10.  Woke up feeling terribly again especially after a long night with Izzy who woke up several times and at one point was up for about an hour crying about her hurting ear and missing her daddy.  Sick kids while sick with no husband is no fun.  Anyway, this morning I was trying to figure out when/how to do my run when I saw that Izzy's tongue was white, so of course self-diagnose both her and I with strep throat.  I swear I instantly felt about 10 times worse knowing how "serious" our condition was and figured a medical waiver from my long run was in order.  About an hour later, my mentally imposed suddenly very sickly self felt still sluggish and kind of crappy but figured I really wasn't sick enough to cop out on the run so with Madeline at a birthday party I set Izzy up to watch a Barbie movie (figuring that being 2 and all and sick its the best way to keep her down and relaxing anyway, right?) and pounded out the 12 miles on my treadmill while finishing up BBCs Pride and Prejudice then watching the "extra features" which turned out to be highly disappointing (I like the in-depth interviews with all the cast and at least 2 hours of extra features as this prolongs the duration of films that I watch on the treadmill).  Am now out of Gatorade and had to drink water throughout, so when I was done stopped by the gas station for Gatorade and chocolate milk (running staples of course), and am glad to say I finished it respectably, though now I have the inevitable post-running desire/justified feeling that I should be able to sit on my couch and eat ridiculous amounts of dove chocolates for the rest of the night.  Not really sure 12 miles qualifies for this feeling, since it hardly seems like a "long run."  Aaah, where did the good old days go when 6 was long, 8 was impressive, and anythinng over 10 was a huge accomplishment?  Crazy marathon freaks.

Hahaha!I am totally nodding and laughing at that last paragraph - SO true, and man do I feel the exact same today!

I'm sorry you've got strep, I hope it doesn't get too horrible and lay you out! I HATE strep more than anything else in the world (okay, maybe not like amputation, but I hate it more than other 'regular' sicknesses). Great job on the run, it's never easy with the kiddos around!

Oh no, not strep. My kids used to get rounds of it, and the nights I would wait and wait until morining with a crying, feaverish infant literally stopped me from having more children. We finally all got treated in our noses with a topical antibiotic and I haven't had it since the years 2002. It is tough to be alone with sick children. I hope all goes well with his job and that everyone gets better really soon. You are justified to watch tv and wait it out. I hope everyone gets better very soon. I missed you so much today on my run. But I was so tired and did it so badly, it reminded me of that one one run 20 or 22 miles we did for UVM last year...the one that ended in me dry heaving? Yeah, today was kinda like that. So, on the other hand, I'm glad you were not here to see me be such a baby. GET BETTER SOON.

I think I need to say get better really soon, another time in case you didn't catch it the first 7 times.....but I really mean it.

Luz and RAD--thanks for the comments and support. I am feeling okay, though I feel really bad for Izzy who sat in the middle of the floor today and just cried and cried. Scott will be home in about 20 hours so I am counting down and hoping tonight is not too miserable for us. Awesome runs today by both of you; and Luz, even if it wasn't your best day I am proud of you for getting the mileage done and wish I had been there to drive and pick you up and take you home. In good news, ladies, Scott got he AF job! We are official. He has to be there middle of April so we will be heading out in the next 5-6 weeks (just in time to do the D.C. Marathon first of course). We will probably be packing up and leaving here around the first of April. Sounds like we should plan some fun UVM long training runs to me...see you both soon!

Cath ~ I am just catching up on your blogs! WOW! What a week with sick kids, strep throat and hubby gone! You're a true blue trooper! Am so proud of you doing ALL that you do!

CONGRATZ to Scott for getting the job he really wanted! And of course I am ecstatic that you're moving back to UT in April! HOORAY!!! I am so excited! Doing the happy dance for you!

Hope your strep throat is all gone and you are feeling much much better!

Yes, we need to do some long runs together before UVM! I just invited myself, is that OK? :)
